My roots in retail can be traced back to 1966 in Limerick where my father owned a newsagency.

From 1976 to 2004 I operated a number of outlets in the City in forecourt and convenience. I have served as Branch Secretary, Branch President, National Executive Member and National President and believe that I am fully aware of the problems (and at least some of the solutions!) of our members.

Amy Stafford

Amy has been involved in the retail sector from a very young age. Amy has an honours degree in Services Marketing and since finishing college has worked for large multinational companies and Irish companies all within the Irish FMCG sector, with this experience Amy has excellent knowledge of the daily issues and struggles that face Irish retailers.

Amy aims to be as helpful and accommodating to all of our CSNA members in these difficult times.

Laura Fogarty

Laura started with the CSNA in 2015 having graduated from IT Carlow in 2015 with a Honours Degree in Marketing.  Laura’s background is in Retail with her experience being gained during her time working for Kelly’s Newsagents in Monasterevin over a period of six and a half years.

Laura looks forward to learning more about the retail industry, growing her knowledge in the retail sector and assisting the CSNA in its continued growth. Laura recently received a Dipolma in  Digital Marketing and Strategy from Dublin Business School.

Victoria Bolger

Victoria has been involved with the retail sector for many years, since leaving college with a degree in Interior Architecture. Victoria returned to her roots & took up a career in retail and worked with a large telecommunications company for 10 years where she gained a great insight of how the retail training environment worked and what retailers need. Victoria has a passion for the Learning and Development of the Retail Sector and is delighted to be tackling the role of Network Manger for CSNA Skillnet and endeavours to bring bespoke and relevant training to  CSNA Skillnet.

Joe Mannion

National President 2019/2020

Joe and his wife Caroline own Mannions’ Daybreak in Clondalkin. Joe has served as President of CSNA in 2010 and 2011, has served on the officer board on the Dublin South Branch of CSNA for a number of years, and is now serving as the National President 2019/2020.

Joe is actively involved in Scouting and is also closely involved with Clondalkin Chamber, promoting a cause close to his heart Community Enterprise and Local jobs.

Marcella O’Neill

Marcella and her sister Ann own O Neill’s Mace in Upper Williams St Limerick.

O Neill’s is one of the longest established business in Limerick City, it has been trading in Upper William St for over three generation. Marcella and Ann demolished the site in 2000 and did a major refurbishment, it is now a 3000 sq ft store and the business has grown through each generation.

Marcella’s mother Mary O Neill was a secondary in the Limerick branch of the NFRN in the 1980s Marcella has been a secretary and Council Delegate for the Limerick branch before joining the National Executive and most recently the CSNA National President for 2018/19.

Peter Gaughan

Peter is the National Vice President for 2019/2020, and the Financial Officer for the Association. Along with his wife Catherine, Peter runs a Spar shop in Balla in Co Mayo for over 20 years. Peter is also a Postmaster and involved in the IPU.

He is an avid Rugby supporter and an IRFU level 3 referee. Peter joined the national executive in 2015. Peter was the chair of the Legislation and External Committee in 2017/2018, whom work tirelessly for CSNA members. An example of is the intense lobbying of the Public Health Alcohol Bill (2017) that CSNA were instrumental in. CSNA delivered  over 80,000 customers signatures from a CSNA organised petition to Department of Health Minister Harris.

Claire-Ann Martyn

Claire-Ann previously served as Secretary of CSNA Laois branch before joining the CSNA National Executive. Ann is a second generation retailer and owns the Centra in Mountrath, Co. Laois.

Ann is involved in School and Community organisations in Mountrath and is also the Post Mistress in Mountrath. Ann was the CSNA National President for 2017/18.

Carmel Felle

Carmel owns the newsagents in the Roselawn Shopping Centre, Blanchardstown and loves promoting Magazines. Carmel was elected Vice President of CSNA in 2013, having served previously in the Dublin North Branch and served as National President in 2014. Carmel’s son and daughter both help to run this busy seven day outlet.

Carmel is very involved in promoting the Shopping Centre throughout the area, and believes passionately in shopping local. Carmel is an avid Dublin GAA fan and makes time on Sunday to follow the Dubs! Carmel sits on the National Lottery Agents Council and is also the Chair of the News and Magazines Sub-Committee and is a member of the Marketing committee.

Derek Moran

Derek started his retail career as a trolley boy in Quinnsworth, Artane Castle in the late 1980s where he was bitten by the retail bug. After attending D.I.T. College of Marketing and Design, he managed some Supervalu stores for Aidan Crowe in Dublin. Derek then went on to work in the wholesale side of the grocery business as General Manager of Value Centre Cash and Carry Limerick. In 2000 he headed up Roches Stores Flagship Supermarket in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre with over 180 employees.

In 2004 he teamed up with BWG Foods to open Eurospar in Drogheda. He has traded there successfully for the last 15 years and employs 40 people. Derek was elected to the National Executive in 2019.

Gus O’Hara

Gus currently owns and operates 2 Spar stores that are both located in Clontarf, Co. Dublin. In 2005 Gus was elected National President of the Association having been a member of the Executive Board for 4 years previously. Gus was recently re-elected to the National Executive in 2017.

Gus is the Chairperson of the CSNA Deals Committee and works tirelessly to gain new exclusive deals for all CSNA members.

Gus was awarded the Convenience Store Champion 2017 award at the Shelflife C-Store awards in November 2017.

Joe Tierney

Joe owns Tierney’s in Trimgate Street, Navan. This store has the distinction (according to Joe) of being the longest established newsagency in the country operated by the same family. Joe is the former President of CSNA on two occasions and has served as Secretary and President to his local branch.

Joe is the Chair of the Lottery & Services Sub-Committeee, Membership Committee and is also on the Conference Committee. Joe is involved at local, county and national levels in various community based institutions and has raised hundreds of thousands of Euro for several charities.

John Paul Lonergan

John Paul has been a member of the CSNA for the past 16 years and has been involved in retail his whole life. John Paul’s retail education began in the family-run store in Howth, Co. Dublin. He then spent many good years managing a store for Andrew Kelly, a former CSNA NEC Member, from whom he learned a lot.

16 years ago, John Paul teamed up with BWG and opened his own store. John Paul was elected to the National Executive in 2019.
