As you are aware, we serve our members interests on various national committees to stay abreast of industry insights and work with our fellow committee members to shape policy in your best interest. One such committee is the National Retail Forum, we meet on November 21st at Garda HQ to discuss all aspects of retail crime. Following that meeting our Security Lead Marcella O’Neill followed up with An Garda Síochana on various matters. During this correspondence she learned of a superb initiative ‘the Nationwide Community Engagement Hour’ which will take place on January 31st when members of a cross section of your local community will meet up to initiate the sharing of information and a community watch effort to reduce crime in your local area. The CSNA, IFA, Chambers of Commerce, Sports Clubs etc. will all be invited to take part in this meeting at a suitable location in your area. For some of you this might be a chance to provide that location if you have a seating area in your store? Others will be held in community halls, sports complexes and so on. The hope would be that this would be the first of a quarterly meeting that would have a dramatic impact in your local area.
