A quick poll to gauge members initial intentions with regard to their plan to set coffee prices after the January 1st 13.5% VAT rate change showed an interesting but overwhelming majority of our members will expect to raise the retail prices.
The poll, carried out over a 6-hour period (12pm-6pm) on Wednesday was responded to by 351 members found that 75% will be raising their prices, while 25% will maintain their existing price.
The question was:
“VAT Rate changes on the 1st of January. Average cup of coffee of is €2.50 with VAT at 9%, this would require an increase of 10c to €2.60 to maintain margin. Do you intend to:”
